Warner Brothers has had a tough time trying to build up the DC cinematic universe. The storylines are paper thin. Ben Affleck‘s Batman is out, Robert Pattinson‘s Batman is in. There’s a bunch of different versions of Joker. Aquaman‘s debut film was Sharknado-level campy. And who knows about what’s going on with Henry Cavill. It’s a mess.

But they may be on their way to righting the ship, as news that Jeffrey Wright is in talks to star as Commissioner Gordon in The Batman. Hopefully producers will pair with Wright’s talents with a good script.

Jonah Hill is also rumored to be joining the film as a villain, though his possible character role in unknown.

Matt Reeves is directing this project, with filming expected to start in late 2019 or early 2020, though nothing has been made official.
