Club goers ran for cover as shot rang out in Atlanta’s Club Dreams.

The stars were out in full effect for the kick off to Jermaine Dupri’s annual Summerfest Weekend in Atlanta… and so were the gunmen.

DeKalb County police report that shots were fired just after 3 a.m. Saturday morning (Aug. 2) by an unidentified man who was denied entry into the VIP area of Club.

The club was packed with celebrities –including actresses Gabrielle Union, Sanaa Lathan, Nia Long, Regina King, actor Larenz Tate, rappers Da Brat and Nelly– who were there to support Mr. Dupri and catch a performance by Sean “P. Diddy” Combs and R&B star Usher, who were on stage when the incident occurred.

In a statement to People.com Mr. Dupri said, “I’m sad this incident happened because it interrupted a beautiful and loving party. But I’m happy none of my people or friends got hurt. And the party continues.”

According to authorities a security guard was hit by a bullet, but was not seriously hurt. He was treated at a local hospital and later released.
