Kelis, the estranged wife of rapper Nas, went into labor this morning and gave birth to the couple’s first child, a baby boy they named Knight.

Nas and Kelis have been going through a very public, and often times nasty, separation within the last few months. Kelis went into labor just minutes before the two, with their respective attorneys were to attend a court hearing on their pending divorce.

Internet rumor has begun circulating early in the day that Nas wasn’t allowed into the delivery room to witness the birth, though in a video recorded this afternoon the Queensbridge rapper tells fans to be wary of the gossip they read online (see video below).

This is Nas’ second child. He has a teenaged daughter from a previous relationship.
