A few days have passed since Snoop Dogg’s rant about Gayle King’s Lisa Leslie went viral. In an IG live video, Snoop went off on King for pushing Leslie to answer questions about Kobe Bryant‘s dismissed rape accusation from 2003.

Most people on social media, and many celebrities sided with Snoop. Oprah Winfrey jumped into the conversation on Friday, appearing on NBC’s TODAY Show to tearfully defend her best friend against the harsh criticism and, according to Oprah, death threats.

Now Snoop is finding himself on the receiving end of criticism from King fans who feel he threaten her in the video. Former National Security Advisor Susan Rice tweeting, “This is despicable. Gayle King is one of the most principled, fair and tough journalists alive. Snoop, back the **** off. You come for @GayleKing, you come against an army. You will lose, and it won’t be pretty.” CBS hs also called Snoop’s comments to King “Reprehensible.”

For his part, Snoop says in no way did he threaten King, he just wanted her to take it easy on Bryant.

Snoop made another video explaining his comments. In it, Snoop wondered out loud whether he looked like someone who would want harm to come to a 70-year-old woman; King is actually 65.

“I was raised way better than that,” he continued. “I don’t want no harm to come to her, I didn’t threaten her. All I did was said (sic), check it out – you out of pocket.”

Although, Snoop didn’t technically directly threaten King, obviously, she and others received it that way.
