Reggae star Buju Banton has found himself in hot water with Federal officials in Florida after he was arrested on Thursday (Dec. 10) on a drug conspiracy charge.
According to DEA spokesperson David Melenkevitz, Banton, who remains in federal custody, was arrested in Miami and charged with conspiracy to possess, with intent to distribute more than five kilograms of cocaine. He’s expected to be transferred to Tampa where the case originated. No further information was provided.
Banton, real name Mark Anthony Myrie, received a Grammy nomination earlier this month for his latest album Rasta Got Soul.
