Mariah Carey recently revealed to her fans via Twitter that she will be pushing back the release date for her highly anticipated album, The Art of Letting Go. The album will be Mariah’s follow-up to Memoirs  of an Imperfect Angel released in 2009.

Here is the message that Carey shared with followers via Twitter on Monday night: “While making this album, I got so immersed in the creative process that I just don’t feel I would be doing it justice to release it on 7/23. The megastar and American Idol judge went on to say, “I’d rather not exclude meaningful songs. I want to give you this album as it’s meant to be heard.” Mariah closed her tweet by exclaiming that when she is ready, her fans will be fans will be the first to know.

One has to wonder if the lackluster response to her song #Beautiful featuring R&B crooner Miguel has anything to do with the album being pushed back. Not to say that #Beautiful is a bad song; it’ s actually a very good song and sounds nothing like anything on the radio right now (maybe this is why it is not played on the radio very often).

Mariah will be taking the stage at this year’s BET Awards. Other performers include, Chris Brown, Justin Timberlake, Ciara and Kendrick Lamar.
