After Malcolm James McCormick, better known as Mac Miller, passed away on September 7,2018 due to an accidental overdose, the music world was left grieving the loss of an incredible talent.
His estate is making sure the rapper’s music continues to live on, announcing the upcoming posthumous release of previously unheard Miller music. The album, Circles, was pieced together by Macs collaborator Jon Brion and is a counterpart album to 2018’s album Swimming.
The album was announced on Miller’s Instagram page, “At the time of his passing, Mac was well into the process of recording his companion album to Swimming. Two different styles complementing each other – Swimming in Circles was the concept.
Knowing how difficult this must be, we’d like to express gratitude to Mac Miller’s family and team for sharing this project. We are left to imagine where Malcolm was going and to appreciate where he was. We hope you take the time to listen. The look on his face when everyone was listening said it all.”
The album is scheduled for release on January 17. More information on the album can be found on Instagram at @92tilinfinity.
