Former world heavyweight champion boxer Mike Tyson is in mourning following the death of his 4-year-old daughter Exodus.

According to police reports Exodus Tyson was playing on a treadmill Monday (May 25) when her head got tangled up in a cord hanging under the exercise machine’s console.

Her 7-year-old brother, who called to his mother for help, discovered her lifeless body. The child’s mother was able to quickly remove the cord from Exodus’ head and perform CPR.

Police arrived at Tyson’s Arizona home within minutes and rushed the unconscious girl to St. Joseph Hospital and Medical Center where she was listed in critical condition and placed on life support, but she succumbed to her injuries.

Exodus was pronounced dead just before noon on Tuesday (May 25).

In a brief statement released to the press Mike Tyson and his family asked for privacy, “There are no words to describe the tragic loss of our beloved Exodus, We ask you now to please respect our need at this very difficult time for privacy to grieve and try to help each other heal.”
