Former ‘Moesha’ star Yvette Wilson loses cancer battle

Actress Yvette Wilson has passed away of cancer. Wilson had been suffering from Stage 4 cervical cancer and had recently asked for help with her soaring medical bills.

Aside from the threat from cancer Wilson was also suffering from kidney disease and was in need of a kidney transplant.

In addition to her role on ‘Moesha’ Wilson’s acting credits also include films: “Poetic Justice”, “House Party 3”, “Friday” and television: ‘The Parkers’ and ‘Thea’.

Yvette Wilson was 48.

This isn’t the first tragedy to strike a former cast member of the 90s sitcom ‘Moesha’. Lamont Bentley who played Moesha’s best friends, Hakeem, was killed in a car crash in 2005. Bernie Mac starred as Wilson’s love interest on the show, Uncle Mitchell, died in 2008. And Merlin Santana, ho briefly played Moesha’s boyfriend was shot dead while sitting in a car in California in 2002.
