You’ve got to be careful who you keep in your inner circle, especially who you let manage your money. Karrueche Tran is finding this out for herself after her former manager Yacuwb Abdullah Muhammad, aka Jacob York, allegedly stole more than $1.4 million dollars from her.

The Claws actress is suing York and his company, Electric Republic, for breach of contract, fraud, and breach of private duty. Electric Republic served as Tran’s management since 2016. According to her contract, Trans earnings were sent directly to Electric Republic, where they would subtract their 20% cut before funneling the remaining amount to the actress.

Tran claims Electric Republic never paid out $267k for paid appearances in 2019. According to The Blast, Tran also alleges that York and company cheated her out of royalties for her collaboration with cosmetics brand, ColourPop. The venture earned Tran $1,795,026.33 in royalties, but her managers only paid her $276,003.90, pocketing more than $1.5 million. In her lawsuit Tran states that Electric Republic “encouraged this false belief” that the ColourPop partnership had generated low revenue “by repeatedly misrepresenting to Tran that the Venture had not been particularly successful, and that her relatively low royalty payments were therefore to be expected. In truth, the Venture had been one of ColourPop’s most successful cosmetic lines to date.”

Very shady if true. But we are sure she won’t stop until she recovers the money that was stolen from her.
