Nearly 3 months shy of celebrating their 2-year wedding anniversary Martin Lawrence and his wife Shamicka are throwing in the towel and filing for divorce
The couple, who tied the knot in July of 2010, have made “the joint decision to part ways,” according to their rep. Martin and Shamicka dated for 15 years, and their relationship bore 2 children, before they made the decision to jump the broom during a private ceremony at their Beverly Hills home.
“Out of love and respect for one another we will continue to remain friends and raise our two beautiful daughters together,” they said in a joint statement.
This was Lawrence’s second marriage. His first marriage to former Miss Virginia, Patricia Southall, ended in divorce in 1996. She’s currently married to NFL Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith.
