Rodriguez Rebooting Predator franchise

Predator

Speaking at a conference about the Texas film incentive program, director Robert Rodriguez announced plans to remake the 1987 sci-fi classic, “Predator.”

Details are at this point scarce, but the “Sin City” director has indicated that his take on the alien man-hunter will not follow in the same line as the most recent incarnations of the franchise (2004’s “Aliens vs Predator” and 2007’s “Aliens vs Predator: Requiem”)
Directed by John McTiernan, the original Predator pitted former terminator and current California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger as army commando, Dutch against a dreadlocked alien big game hunter. The film was a box office success and won an Oscar for best visual effects. A sequel, “Predator 2,” starring “Lethal Weapon”’s Danny Glover was released in 1990.

Rodriguez’s remake, tentatively titled “Predators” has a 2010 release date through 20th Century Fox, but that may change.
