After a year of social media attention, and the Laker game twerk fiasco, Lizzo quits Twitter

Well, 2020 did not get off to a good start for singer Lizzo. She announced on social media Sunday that she will be taking a Twitter break because of trolls.

“Yeah I can’t do this Twitter s**t no more.. too many trolls,” Lizzo tweeted. “I’ll be back when I feel like it.”

Apparently, it seems from reports that some people on the platform were making fun of her and comparing her to a bomb that could be used in a conflict with Iran.

Most people didn’t find the jokes funny, but a lot of people think that’s why she’s decided to take a break.

Lizzo is used to being the target of fat jokes and acknowledged her haters. “I’ve always had to turn haters into congratulators,” she told Billboard in a September 2019 interview. “That’s the thing with my songs and my live shows: I’ve never lost that mentality of ‘I have to win you over,’ and I’m never going to because I didn’t learn that way. I have muscle memory in this.”

The frequency and level of jokes may picked up steam after she twerked at the LA Lakers game last year. No word if or when the singer will return.
