On Sunday, CupcakKe dropped a bomb on fans in an 18-minute Instagram Live where she lamented about her career, negative influence on young fans, and announced that she was retiring from the music industry, removing her content from streaming services, and deleting her social media.

CupcakKe’s discography is filled with sexually suggestive tunes, and her retirement announcement comes days after releasing her latest tune, “Grilling N—-s”. In the lead up to the Instagram Live, CupcakKe posted a series of tweets aimed at former Fifth Harmony member, Camila Cabello where she accused Cabello of being racist, “Yes sis …. I f*cked your man … & I did it on purpose since your[sp] racist ???? & that’s the TEA!! let’s tell the world become[sp] I grab the receipts.”

In announcing her decision to stop making music CupcakKe talked about the impact she sees her music having on young fans, “I feel as though I’m corrupting the youth,” she says while wrapped in bed sheets and appearing teary-eyed. “Just seeing all-age kids at the shows, seeing them sing along to ‘hump me’ and ‘f**k me’ and all this s**t, it has torn me apart. I’m just not happy. Ten, eleven years old, whatever, and I feel as though I’m corrupting them with my songs. And… I don’t want to do it no more.”

Of her tweets to Cabello she said, “Recently, the past night, and today, I just been sporadic. It’s because I wanted to get as much attention as possible to let y’all know that I will no longer be doing music. And all of my music will be coming off every platform… I just [posted the tweets] to bring awareness to this, that I am through, that you will no longer see me nowhere.”

CupcakKe has been open about her mental health challenges. Fans were left concerned after a suicide scare in January, “I’m finally getting the help that I need to get through, be happy, & deliver great music.” And her struggles with “a very bad gambling addiction” after losing $700k at a casino.

As of this publishing CupcakKe’s music is still available for streaming, and her Twitter page is still active, through the posts about Camila Cabello are no longer present.
