’80s rap duo Kid ‘N Play took to the stage on Wednesday (June 23), preforming on comedian George Lopez‘s late night talk show, Lopez Tonight, to commemorate the 20th anniversary release of the film House Party. Video after the jump.

the 1990 comedy film became a gateway for a slue of up-and-coming actors and comedians including Martin Lawrence, Tisha Campbell, Daryl “Chill” Mitchell, A.J. Johnson and Robin Harris (who died of a heart attack nine days after House Party was released)., and featured a number of established. The film spawned two sequels.

Along with their musical success, Kid (Christopher Reid) and Play (Christopher Martin), branched out into other areas, including a Saturday morning cartoon, Kid ‘n Play, on NBC from 1990 to 1991, and in 1992 Marvel published a 9-issue comic book by the same name.

After the group broke up Kid continued his career in television, appearing in a number of television shows as well as hosting It’s Showtime at the Apollo and Your Big Break.

Play became a born-again Christian and went on to establish a career in Christian hip hop, he later became a teacher at North Carolina Central University.
