A cartoon strip running in today’s Seattle Post-Intelligencer by artist David Horsey may have gone over the line. The strip (seen below) starts off with an overtly sexualized depiction of Sen. Barack Obama‘s parents, with his Africa father portrayed as the stereotypical sex charged black man and his mother a meek teenage white girl. The strip also featured the Democratic presidential nominee being cradled by an Islamic cleric as a child.
The final pane of the strip show a drawing of John McCain saying: “I’m John McCain and I’m ashamed to say my supporters believe this message” suggests that this is a satirical take on the negative scare tactics being used the the Republican campaign, but did the artist go too far in his depiction of Sen. Obama and his family? You decide…
