Brazilian police have arrested Amanda Rodrigues for the murder of her husband, boxing legend, Arturo Gatti.
Gatti’s body was found on Saturday in the hotel room he, Rodrigues and their 1-year-old son were sharing at the posh Porto de Galinhas while on vacation in Brazil.
The 23-year-old Rodrigues was arrested after giving police contradictory statements and was unable to explain how she spent 10 hours in the same room as Gatti without realizing he was dead.
The couple was overheard arguing shortly after arriving at the hotel on Friday, with reports suggesting Gatti may have been drunk. According to police Gatti had a head injury and was strangled with the strap of a handbag, which was found bloodied in the hotel room.
Arturo Gatti was 37.
