Lebron James will go down in history, not only as one of the greatest basketball players of all times, but also for his philanthropy. In 2018 he funded the I Promise School, a public school in his hometown of Akron, Ohio, though his LeBron James Family Foundation.

Now the future Hall of Famer is doubling down on his promise with the announcement that juniors at I Promise will receive free tuition, and one year of free room and board at Kent State University.

On Wednesday, Feb 12, 193 students were at Kent State University for what they thought was a regular campus tour.

Sitting in the university’s auditorium the students were instructed to reach under their chairs where an envelope awaited each of them. The juniors found in this envelope a gift of a 4-year scholarship to Kent State from James. The only stipulation is that the students must maintain their grades or risk losing their scholarships.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, James said of the Kent State program, “We have so many options, and I just know that so many kids in my community just don’t have many options… So for me to be able to be in a position where I can give these kids options to decide what they want to do with their future, it’s probably the best thing I’ve ever done.”

I Promise students already had a path towards college carved out for them. All graduates of the school are eligible for free tuition at the University of Akron, under the Akron I Promise Network Scholarship, a partnership between the University of Akron, the LeBron James Family Foundation, and JPMorgan Chase that was established in 2015 before construction of the school was even complete.

Lebron if you’re still in the giving mood I’m sure some of us would love our student loans to disappear. 😂
