Morehouse College will begin admitting transgender male students.

Officials at the historically black school announced the change in policy Saturday, April 13, in an effort to align the school with the ever-changing definitions of gender. “We found that when our admission representatives were going out, oftentimes people would ask them, ‘Does Morehouse admit transgender people?'”, David A. Thomas, the president of the college, said on Sunday.

The school, based in Atlanta, will continue to exclude women, or those identifying as female, from enrollment, “once admitted, students are expected to continue to self-identify as men throughout their matriculation”, according to the new policy.
