On the latest episode of Red Table Talk JPS confessed to husband Will Smith that she and Alsina had a romantic relationship while the couple were temporarily separated.
After Pinkett-Smith called the affair an “an entanglement”, Will probed for details of the relationship. According to Pinkett-Smith said the affair took place while she and Will were separated four years ago:
“Four and a half years ago… I started a friendship with August and we actually became really, really good friends,” Pinkett-Smith said, adding, “It all started with him just needing some help, me wanting to help his health, his mental state.”
“The outpouring for him from our family was initially about his health. We found all those different resources to help pull him through and from there you and I were going through a very difficult time.”
“I was done with you,” Smith replied.
“We broke up,” Pinkett-Smith clarified. “We decided that we were going to separate for a period of time.”
Will, at times looking defeated, wanted to know what really happened between JPS and Alsina.
“And then what did you do, Jada?” Smith asked.
“From there as time went on I got into a different kind of entanglement with August. One thing I want to clean up… about you giving ‘permission’ which is… the only person that can give permission in that circumstance is myself,” she said.
Will pushed for his wife clarify that it wasn’t just an entanglement, it was a relationship, which she finally admitted.
In the end JPS and Will acknowledged that their relationship is currently in a better place now than it was a few years ago.
