Fred the Godson could use some prayers. The New York emcee is in a battle with COVID-19. A Twitter post on Monday, April 6, featured an image of Fred, born Fredrick Thomas, with a breathing appporatice around his face, with the caption, “I’m in here with this Covid-19 shit! Please keep me in y’all prayers!!! #GodIsGreat”

Shortly after his post, Fred suffered setbacks. His wife, LeeAnn Jemmott shared a grim diagnosis from doctors who didn’t give Fred much chance of survival, “It was just like — he’s gone and he’s gonna die, that’s it. I don’t even know how I felt, I just felt like I was going to die.”

Jemmott says she remains optimistic that her husband will make a full recovery, “Now, instead of the ventilator supporting him 100%, it’s supporting him 70%.”

Fred the Goodson is among the growing list of black entertainers and sports figures who have tested positive for coronavirus, including MC Eiht, Idris Elba, and Slim Thug.
