City Girls fans went into a frenzy when it was announced last October that group member, JT, was scheduled to be released from federal custody. JT, real name Jatavia Shakara Johnson, was serving time in federal lock-up for credit card fraud.

Though it’s been nearly 5 months since the announcement, the Miami rapper didn’t get a real taste of freedom until last Saturday, March 7, after she completed a stay at the RRM Atlanta halfway house.

Immediately jumping on Twitter to celebrate, as one does after gaining their freedom following almost two years in prison, JT expressed her gratitude for being able to enjoy the comfort of her bed, “Woke up in my own bed for the first time in 2 years! Happppppyyyyy🙃”

JT was sentenced to prison in July 2018. Her terms of release include one year of probation, and she’s required to perform approximately 200 hours of community service.

Now that she has her full freedom back, we can expect City Girls to crank things up this year.
