Judge drops assault charges against Remy Ma in April incident with Love and Hip Hop cast-memeber, Brittney Taylor

All charges have been dropped against Remy Ma. The New York rapper had been accused of punching Love & Hip Hop co-star Brittney Taylor backstage at a benefit concert at NYC’s Irving Plaza on April 16.

Remy, who was on parole for shooting a friend in 2007 at the time of the alleged incident, was arrested in May and charged with assault and harassment. Defense attorney Dawn Florio called the allegations false and insisted that Remy was at home caring for her 4-month-old daughter at the time of the alleged incident. The arrest and charges resulted in travel restrictions and an 8 pm curfew. Remy was also subjected to weekly check-ins with her parole officer as opposed to every four months.

The judge dismissed the case after prosecutors failed to present any witnesses or surveillance video of the attack. Assistant D.A. Juan Maldonado addressed the courtroom and moved to drop the case. Maldonado told the court, “After a thorough, months-long investigation, the people are moving to dismiss this case,” adding “We cannot prove it beyond a reasonable doubt.”

Remy told reporters, “I wish they would have to come to this conclusion before I had to wear an ankle bracelet and lost months and months of wages.”
