Kelis Roger-Jones has filed divorce paper against her husband of 4 years, rapper Nas, real name Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones.
The 29-year-old singer who goes simply by the name, Kelis, is seven months pregnant with the couple’s first child. The two met in 2002 at an MTV Video Awards after party and married three years later in Atlanta.
Speaking to E! News online a rep for Kelis confirmed the break up stating, “I can confirm that she has filed for divorce… We request the media to respect her privacy during this very difficult time.”
The confirmation comes after Vibe.com broke the news of the divorce. The site obtained and posted the divorce petition online (see below), in which Kelis cites irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.
Fashion designer Rachel Roy filed divorce papers against her husband of 4 years Damon Dash in Manhattan Supreme Court earlier this month. The couple got hitched in Mexico in January 2005.
Dash has had a slew of bad luck the last few years beginning when he was unceremoniously forced out of Roc-A-Fella Records, the company he and former business partner Jay-Z founded, he was later removed as head of the fashion brand he and Jay-Z also started together, Rocawear. In August 2008 he lost the licensing rights to the Pro-Keds footwear, which he at one time touted as his comeback vehicle. Later in that month it was revealed that two of his New York homes had slipped into foreclosure, with mortgage debt on the two properties totaling over 7 million dollars. More legal trouble befell Dash the following month when in September the mother of his 16-year-old son refused to send the child home to Dash after a court ordered visitation, a violation of a custody agreement. Additionally Dash is being sued by his former attorneys for failing to pay legal bills and he owes the state of New York $2 million in back taxes, his car was seize last year after he failed to make his monthly payments.
This latest blow is not without it’s upside, in the divorce filing Roy is not asking for any money, just a clean separation.

It’s cheaper to keep her. That’s probably what actor/singer Tyrese Gibson is thinking today after a Judge decreed he must fork over $65,000 to Norma Gibson, his estranged wife and mother of his 2-year-old daughter, Shayla.
In addition to the lump sum payment, and in spite of a pre-nuptial agreement, Tyrese was ordered to pay $6,230 in child support payments, as well as Norma’s rent and car payments at $2,730 and $800 respectively.
Despite of the generous ruling in her favor, Norma Gibson is continuing her fight against her prenup in a bid to possibly get a bigger payday when the divorce is finialized. She has good reason to put up a fight since the prenup stipulates that Norma would only get $50,000 for every year they are married and that she would have to move out of Tyrese’s house within 60 days of a separation or divorce.
In court papers Norma, who got hitched to Tyrese only 10 months ago, claims the “Baby Boy” star is a deadbeat dad.
Troubled singer R. Kelly has finalized his divorced from wife Andrea Lee Kelly after 11 years of marriage.
Lawyers for Mr. Kelly, 42, released a statement this week announcing that the couple’s devoice. Calling the split “amicable“ the statement offers very little detail, asking that the public respect Mr. Mrs. Kelly’s requests for privacy, but contends that the two “will share joint custody of their three children.”
The devoice papers were filed 2006, but the couple had held out hopes that they could work out their differences.

The two met in 1994 when, at the age of 18, Andrea (now 35) auditioned to be a backup dancer for Kelly. They married in 1996 but separated in 2005 after Andrea filed a restraining order against him claiming Kelly had physically abused, harassed and stalked her. She rescinded the restraining order weeks later.
